Happy Monday! ♥

Did you watch the Oscars last night? We watched part of it, from Miss Celeste's thirtieth birthday party, but not the whole thing. From the word on the street, we caught the best part, which was the hilarious Inception-themed opening short with Anne, James, Morgan, and Alec (yes, I'm on a first name-basis with all of them). Word also is that James was so disappointed in the less-than-stellar reviews of their hosting gig that he skipped the after party thrown in his honor. Ah well. C'est la vie!

But don't Audrey and Grace look beautiful? That was taken backstage at the Oscars in 1956. Absolutely amazing. If I have two daughters, their names will be Audrey and Grace. Not kidding.

Speaking of little mini-me's how sickeningly adorable is this ad?! OMG I die.

Oh! Almost forgot to mention: I GOT MY WEDDING DRESS! Brett, being the perfect sweetie that he is, drove me to and from Portland on Saturday just to (a) go to brunch with the lovely Miss Sara, (b) wait in the car with Sara's pup, Zelda, while we tried on and packed up the dress and (c) wait in the car with Zelda and the dress while we ran into H&M.

I found the best man in the universe. Sorry, ladies, he's taken.

So, it's been here hanging in the guest room for two days now. And yes, I've tried it on multiple times. Practiced walking (and prancing and sitting and skipping and posing) in it. Worn it with my veil. Stared at it on the hanger. Ran my hands over it. Sighed and cooed. It's amazingly beautiful and I'm in love with it! Fiancé thinks I've gone cuckoo. Possibly so, but I'll look fabulous doing it.

Hardcover book that holds a wedding invitation? Brilliant!

Love the quirky illustrations! And I believe that the wedding party deserves a page in the program (and more!) since they are such a big part of the couple's lives and host various wedding celebrations.

Alright. Who wants to sew us some wedding invitations? Only around 85 or so. Piece of cake!

Every Last Detail wrote a DIY post for this board. It's a cute detail that could be placed in the cocktail space and then later in your home!

Or you could just buy this one.

New bridal accessories line for Spring by Twigs and Honey. If you haven't already, go look! If anything, just go because it'll put a little pretty in your day.

I want this crafting room. Brett, next house we get, let's make this happen.

Ugh disgusting. Why did I ever want to get married in a castle when I was a little? They're so gross. (The sarcasm is lost in the typing).

Sweet engagement shoot. They're so obviously in love--I can't get enough of pics like these!

So I noticed that when a man tells another man that he's engaged, the first thing that happens is that the guy asks about the bachelor party. But as a girl, you tell another girl and the first thing that happens is she grabs your hand to look at the ring. The ring. It's so epic in a girl's life. Let's look at some examples.

Nicole Ritchie. Art deco vintage and very classy. Love it. Remember the pink one she got from DJ AM? Very different.

Carrie Underwood, yellow diamond with a halo of white diamonds. Pretty.

Jessica Simpson, a ruby flanked by two diamonds. Not my favorite, but rather romantic, I guess.

Bam! Beyonce's 18-carat bling worth an estimated $5 million. That's a lot of sparkle!

Good lord! Look at that thing! It's massive! I would be afraid to leave the house with that thing!
Check out more celeb engagement rings on People.com.

But this one is still by far my favorite ♥

Isn't it the prettiest ring you ever did see? I don't know how FiancĂ© picked it out all by hisself, but I could not have done better!
Yes, that is my pasty white dry cracked hand. Curse thee, winter dry skin! I need to tan my pale bootie before the wedding.

Have a lovely week, everyone!

Say YES to the Dress!

In the past week, I have watched more than forty episodes of Say Yes to the Dress. Forty episodes. That's almost fifteen hours of my life. Spent watching dozens of girls (and one guy) try on dresses. Seriously? What's wrong with me? As I sit and type this, I'm watching yet another episode. OMG.

But hey, there's a reason (maybe): next Saturday I get to pick up my dress!! Mine mine mine mine! So excited! I haven't seen it in person since July (although I do look at pictures of me in it compulsively, LOL!) and I may be biased, but have to say that no dress on SYTTD even compares to how beautiful mine is! I hate to be judgey, but why spend $4,000 on a boring dress that looks like every other dress? Anyhoo, dontcha love this romantic dress? So gorg!

I want to see someone on SYTTD put this on. In other news, or lack thereof, no word yet from additional schools. Still have no idea where we may be moving in less than six months. Life is a mixture of waiting with our patient pants on while moving full speed ahead. It's an exciting and happy time, with a splash of uncertainty and anxiety. But it's all fun, and I have the perfect playmate/go-getter to do it all with.

Enough of that nonsense. With about five months to go before Brett and I get hitched, I cannot believe how fast the last year has flown by! Brett's first bachelor party is in two weeks! It's all happening! So exciting! Time to talk invitations.

These are by Teardrop Weddings, perfect for a sweet casual wedding.

This packaged invitation includes a stack of "polaroids" that tells the couple's story. Super cute and the homemade element makes it special. Love it.

This makeover story by the ladies at A Beautiful Mess has the raddest updo. Um, this makes me want to cut bangs back on my face. But I will fight the urges. Fiance does like my hair in braids, so I think he should learn how to do this with my hair. Just saying.

This cutie patootie cake from Rock and Roll Bride is perfect for a summer picnic wedding, hint hint :)

Paint the roses red! How's this for a cake? Alice in Wonderland is my favorite animated Disney movie, with Sword in the Stone as a close second. What? Sword in the Stone is super good! Go and watch it, right now! Merlin is awesome.

Wedding in Florence, Italy. Too pretty for words.

I think I've said this a million times, but seriously, I keep having wedding nightmares. About three of them revolved around me forgetting to write my vows until moments before I walked down the aisle. Last night at my lady date (favorite activity) with Celeste, Alani, and Christine (favorite Seattlite ladies), they suggested I write down something, even if it was "Today I marry you because I like you and you're cute," just to soothe some of the anxiety, so I think I'll try my hand at that this weekend.

Happy President's Day, lovelies! Two years ago, Fiance and his friend dressed up as Lincoln and Washington, walked around downtown, and paid for everything in fives and ones. I love that kid. ♥

February: The LOVE Month!

source
I will admit it: I love Valentine's Day! I know I know, it's a commercialized representation of love, all a conspiracy to empty the banks of wooing gentlemen, contrived and frivolous. I get it. But I can't help it--I love Valentine's Day!! Sure, it doesn't hurt that I'm 99.99% of the time on the receiving end on this holiday, but ever since I was a little girl and my Mama would stick heart shaped notes and candies in my backpack, I've always felt so happy around this time of year. It's fun, so sue me, I can't help but love it.

Speaking of Mama, Happy Belated Birthday to Patricia Hee! Best Mommy in the universe! No seriously, my mom is better than yours. Love you Mommy ♥ !!!!

I love these cards from Etsy's Storey Shop--especially since sometimes I wonder if Fiance loves me more than Diet Coke and I'm sure he has some pangs of jealously towards my unadulterated adoration of Etsy.

In honor of honorary LOVE day, 2011, I have what might be the effing cutest engagement announcement video ever. Check it out:

Lex & Loren - Engagement/Save the date! from Brinton Films on Vimeo.

Here are some pics from their wedding, found over at Green Wedding Shoes:

Cute couples, yuck! :) Just kidding. I love it. Congrats to a similarly fun and rambunctious couple, Kelli and Wes on their recent engagement! Also congrats to Chris and Beth Ann, Kelly and Jake, and all the other recently engaged lovebirds out there! So excited for you!

So as of late, I have been stressing myself out over circumstances and situations of which I have absolutely no control over. Someone remind me what the serenity prayer is again, please? Ugh. I'm trying not to do that anymore. Gonna try to be more zen. I mentioned a while back that I wanted to bachelor/bachelorette together in Vegas with all of our nearest and dearest. But, as life works out, a lot of those n&d's can't make it so we may have to nix the whole thing. I'm hoping not to, but we'll just have to see. Twenty-eleven is turning out to be quite the crazy, busy, life-changing year for a lot of us! Woooosaaaaah.

Saw this posted on Elizabeth Anne Designs and thought, What great ideas for a bachelorette party! Don't you agree? Plus, it would be pretty easy to get the girls together for a quick camping trip a couple of days before the wedding.

Another bachelorette party idea: flower arranging. I still want to go on a trip with my loveliest ladies, but with babies and school and jobs and lives, it's just so hard to get everyone together! I wish we would hit the lottery so I can just fly out everyone and pay for babysitters! This is why we're going to spend the $50 we made at a friend's Superbowl party on 50 lottery tickets. Right, Brett?

My Mom and I (and Christine!) found the most beautiful, romantic wedding dress together, but this Ivy & Aster frock makes me want to start looking for an "exit getaway" dress. Just another excuse for me to go shopping! :) LOL.

Happy early Valentine's Day, y'all! Kisses all around! :)
