Happy Tears

My family likes to tease me because of my stoicism--I never used to cry in sad movies. Not a big deal in most families, but my family just so happens to be one sweet little group of leaky faucets. I love them to death but they used to drive me crazy--crying during AT&T commercials really?! And don't even get me started on Steel Magnolias or Beaches: puffy faces for days! They used to accuse me of being a robot, but I thought they were just silly. The only things that could make me cry were boys (ugh), really good books, and Benji the Hunted.

And then...

I don't know what happened, but one day I woke up and I was transformed into one of them! I cry during sad and happy movies, at weddings I pass the Kleenex around (although strangely not at my own), episodes of Long Island Medium completely ruin my makeup, I even get teary-eyed listening to sappy love songs that remind me of my husband. And, I'm not gonna lie, that image from the movie Up, above, gets me a bit sniffly. I'm a soggy mess! I often wonder what it was that flipped the switch; I think it was simply growing up and learning to appreciate all that I've been blessed with. Plus, there may have been an event or two that completely changed my life.

Today while out running errands (I was soooo productive today!) I heard Bruno Mars's song Marry You and was reminded of this video, and yes, I started to cry just thinking about it! What's wrong with me?! If you happen to be one of the five people who haven't seen this it yet, here you go! Happy birthday! :)

...And if you don't cry, you are a robot.

Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful week!

Falling for Fall Fashions: My Wishlist

Photobucket

Living in the South, we get to experience all four seasons in their entirety and I love it! They are the perfect length for my fashion moods, too! Just when I start to get tired of bikinis, teeny shorts, and flat sandals, it's time to pack them away! Time to grow up a little and dress more like a lady--longer hemlines and sleeve lengths, blazers, and boots. I love fall! The air is crispy and cool, the leaves are changing, and almost everyday, Husband turns to me and says, "I love fall days like this!" Me too!

Here are some of the things on my autumnal wishlist.

Photobucket
Polka dotted backpack! I am having a polka dot moment.

Photobucket
Camo pants. Reeeeally want some!

Photobucket
Chick sweater by J.Crew, so perfect for layering!

Photobucket
More dots. I just ordered these tights ($10).

Photobucket
I already have a brown (faux) leather jacket, so this year I think I'll invest in a black. This one is only $57 and has a detachable gray hood. Love the floral pants, too, but don't think I'd pair them together.

Photobucket
Pretty heart-printed pants

Photobucket
Matching heart sweater

Photobucket
Zara camo jacket

Photobucket
Planet Blue hoodie/denim vest combo, so fresh

Photobucket
I love love love these Jeffrey Campbell boots! Need to, have to, have.

Photobucket
My idea of the perfect fall outfit. I wish all of these pieces would magically appear in my closet.

Photobucket
Zara leather-ish pants. Must have!

Photobucket
More leather: faux leath skater skirt, so playful and fun.

Photobucket
Jumping on the military trend wagon with the camo prints and military-cut jackets, like this one by Zara!

Photobucket
Obsessed with sneaker wedges.

Photobucket
Sheer white dress with gold belt; I love white in the fall and winter.

And last but not least, this super comfy cardigan--perfect for a cuddling up in!

Well, there you have it: my round-up of favorite fall fashions for 2012! Today is actually a rainy, gray day here in Garner, North Carolina, and I am happy as a clam with my Pharmacology and Fashion Police in my pajamas. That is my day today--don't be jelly! This week was a doozie and last night out with friends was super fun, so today I'm just gonna veg out to my heart's content! I'll go to the gym and get uber productive tomorrow! LOL!

Thank you for reading! Have a wonderful weekend!

Why I Pinterest

 [via]

I Pinterest because it's my happy place! Well, it's one of my many happy places. This is my happiest place:

I'm annoying, I know, teehee. Anyway, Pinterest is up there on that list. It's a fun way to collect ideas, pretty pictures, decor inspiration, recipes, and pieces of clothing that your friends or families can find online and buy for you (hehe!). It has multiple uses! Here are some peachy pics I've been ogling lately...

Overwhelmed

[via]
Overwhelmed is a good word to describe how I feel as of late. Brett and I haven't even started planning our NYC trip that we're taking in less than a month! And don't even ask about our trips to Hawaii (Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island) in December and next year's trips. School is taking over my life! We have another line-up of exams (3 in one week) and the amount of studying I put in has about doubled to get the same grades as last year. Better said:

TO ALL THE P1s: ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS
[via]
That Tumblr account cracks me up, it's so good. Anyway, long story short: I've been studying all day, every day. Brett has made dinner for us three times this week--SOLO! I usually help, but he's been very sweet and just wants me to focus on school ish.

One of my favorite Pandora stations to listen to when I study is Lana del Rey's, which introduced me to this song and now I'm obsessed.

Back to studying I go! Thank you for reading! Have an awesome rest of the week!

Sunday Love

[via]
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I celebrated kicking serious butt on not one but TWO exams this week with a lady date followed by a quiet (late) dinner with Husband on Friday. On Saturday, we woke up super early and drove to Raleigh so that Brett could participate in the Buddy Run, a 5K that he finished in under 20 minutes! I am so proud of my lovebug! He is amazing :)

After the race, we napped for a few hours then went to the NC State football game with the parentals-in-law. It was fun! And today we took it super easy--went to the gym in the morning, did a little cleaning, and studied/watched football. Brett even managed to make a yummy dinner of bourbon-marinated steak sandwiches...amazeballs.

Here are some of my recent Instagram pics. You can follow me @ erin_shoe

Planning our European Misadventure (May 2013, hopefully!)

Favorite night of the week = date night!

I had a really BAD day the other week and posted this because in spite of everything,
this pic makes me feel giddy happy and super lucky ♥

Our favorite spot for an afternoon beer in Raleigh, Flying Saucer Draught Emporium

My bro-in-law, Baxter, and I, reunited ♥ Love this guy!

"B" is for Brett the booger butt! ;)

On Husband Time Out

At the Buddy Run, supporting Husband's first competitive race in 15 years!

He placed 3rd overall! So proud! :D

At the NC State game

So, every single pic I've taken the past couple of weeks are all of just Brett and myself... LOL! We are such losers! I am working on my codependency issues ;) But, to be perfectly honest, he is truly my best friend (barf!) and I love all the time we get to spend together--especially since he's out of town so often for work. Saw this quote about marriage on Pinterest the other day and love it so much:

Well, on that super sappy note, I bid y'all adieu! I wish you a very lovely week!
