Fashion Friday: In the Mood for Romance

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

Did you know that Valentine's Day is less than a week away? If you remember these posts (here and here), you know that I am a HUGE fan of this ridiculous, commercially-driven day of displaying affection for the one you love/lust the most. Most likely because I've been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of gorgeous flower arrangements, candy baskets, and cupcakes; I've been fancily wined and dined by my uber-romantic husband in years past. My favorite was one night after getting off from my bartending job, I got home, exhausted, at 4 in the morning to find a basket full of delicious treats and a big card waiting at the top of the stairs for me. Sweetest guy ever.

Now? We're more of a stay in, cook dinner together, and curl up on the couch with a Netflix DVD duo. But that doesn't mean that I don't love wistfully eyeing these beautiful dresses. There's something so feminine and romantic about maxi dresses, don't you think? I have such a weakness for them. Hence, the perfect Valentine's date night outfit suggestions above--weather permitting. Of course with half the country getting snow today, these are probably not the most practical options. We can just gaze at them together.

And if you're a dude trying to think of a gift for your special lady friend this year, consider the following:
  • A gift card for a spa day: massage, facial, and body scrub (or the more affordable mani and pedi combo)
  • An all-expenses paid night out with her girlfriends (stole that from Bill and Giuliana's book)
  • Homemade dinner at home--check out these blogs for ideas:
  • Clean the house, wash her car, and make her breakfast in bed
  • Every girl can use a soft, cozy new pashmina--pick one in her favorite color
  • Don't you dare forget a card! It's Valentine's Day after all, you have to get her a Valentine! Nothing beats a good old-fashioned, from-the-heart love letter. That's really all that we want, right ladies?

And if you find yourself single and fabulous this year, grab a couple of friends and throw a little anti-Vday girls' night in (GNI) with some 80s/90s flicks or have a Sex and the City marathon with martinis and bake cookies together. Or, get all dolled up and have a fun night on the town. There are definite perks of being a single gal!

Brett is finally home from Seattle after another work trip! You know what that means? The thermostat goes back down to freezing. Haha! It also means I get to hear him complain that I only wear my wedding band recently... I just think it's the prettiest little thing, don't you agree? Question: Married girls, do you always wear your engagement ring?

The pic on the right is my handsome man trying to memorize the streets of Charleston last weekend. He prides himself on impeccable sense of direction.

Here's what I wore the last couple of weeks:

(Left) Blue dress with red squares: Modcloth // Wide brown belt: old // White knit tights: H&M // Brown boots: 6pm.com
(Right) Black and cream striped dress: Modcloth // Black turtleneck: Forever 21 // Black fleece-lined tights: Target //
Beige knee-high socks: Modcloth // Black boots: Zappos

Green jacket with faux leather sleeves and details: Forever 21 // White boatneck tee: H&M // Skinny jeans: Levi's //
Black wedged kicks with gold dots: Dorothy Perkins

I hope you all have a great weekend! Thanks for reading ♥
