Ode to Marriage

pc: Amore Studios
Two years ago, we promised to spend the rest of our lives together. Until meeting Brett, I didn't know what it was like to really put someone else first. Marriage isn't easy--we fight and nag and get stressed/hungry/tired and take it out on each other--but at the end of the day, we're a team of two. A darn good one, if I do say so myself!

Things I've learned:

  • I'm not always right
  • Sometimes we both need a time out
  • Never use words as weapons--those can never be taken back
  • Remember who you're talking to--he's your best friend and ally, not your opponent
  • Seven-second hugs can make a world of difference
  • Sometimes a joke in the middle of an argument can really explode in your face, other times, it can diffuse the tension--it just better be good (and good-natured, preferably self-deprecating)
  • Choose your battles
  • Sarcasm does not translate well into the language of loooooove
  • Help each other out without having been told or asked
  • Surprises (big and small) are always well-received
  • Be appreciative
  • Go to bed at the same time
  • Sometimes we hear things that weren't even said or meant due to our own insecurities--so always keep an open mind and lines of communication (ie, don't get butt-hurt so easily)

And now that we're entering the next chapter of our lives (title: Dirty Diapers and Sleepless Nights), I know that I couldn't have chosen a more loving, nurturing, thoughtful, hard-working, or generous man to share it with.

Brett, a.k.a. Husband, you're the reason my fam never has to worry about me. You put a smile on my face every morning and fill our house with so much laughter and love. It's been said a million times, but marriage is work--so I'm glad my coworker is HOT ;) Soon we'll have a new mini-bossman. Thanks for the best two years and here's to many many more!

And for a bit of a change in topic, Kate Spade is doing a surprise sale! I will refrain from buying anything (Happy Anniversary, Brett!) but here are some of my faves:

 Laptop bag $149 || Striped wallet $79
 Cake tote $119 || Crossbody bag $99
I absolutely LOVE this baby bag!

Go get you some!

Still having a wonderful time with fam and friends in Hawaii and today Brett finally joins me here! I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and thanks for reading!

  1. Love and miss you guys. Excited, yet saddened, that you're about to move into Da Parenthood. Another couple joins the Baby Brigade. Just remember, park your strollers out of the way of us normal people.
